Easy come, easy go. That's the motto anyone who watches streaming services should keep in mind, because shows and movies are leaving services just as often as they appear. And that makes sense for an independent service like Netflix or a multi-studio service like Hulu. Warner Bros., on the other hand, owns HBO Max as well as most, if not all, of the titles available on it. That includes the list below of new titles joining and leaving HBO Max in December.
We can't help but wonder, then, why so many things are leaving the service this month. Wonder Woman 1984, which debuts on Christmas Day, headlines the arrivals. The departures, though, include Batman & Robin, Batman Forever, Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition, and Jonah Hex. Whether or not any of those movies are good is in the eye of the beholder, but they're all Warner Bros.-produced movies about DC Comics-owned characters, both of which are part of WarnerMedia.
Wonder Woman 1984 isn't the only thing arriving in December, though. Along with the tentpole superhero film, we'll be able to watch Shaun of the Dead, the Shawshank Redemption, the 1973 Westworld film (Michael Crichton's first movie about a theme park gone wrong), and a lot more. The majority of the content drops on December 1, though the service has an almost-daily trickle of stuff throughout the month, too. Keep reading to see what's coming and going.
